Instructions

This is a game to learn geography. There are three quizzes you can take:

  • Countries
  • Capitals
  • Flags

As you correctly enter information the corresponding countries will turn green on the map and appear on the table underneath. If you click the "Solve All" button all of the information on the map will populate, and the countries will turn to different shades of red depending on how much information you missed, allowing you to review what you didn't enter.

The settings menu () allows you to decide which of these quizzes you would like to take. This menu also allows you to change numerous other game options:

    Display

  • Display Official Names: When a country is guessed, its official name will appear in the hover popup and country table, rather than its more commonly known name (e.g. "French Republic" instead of "France").
  • Show ISO in Table: Rather than a number appearing in the country table beneath the map, each country's ISO code will be present instead.
  • Begin With Flags Open: When the page loads the flags will be visible (if the flag quiz is enabled). Otherwise, by default, the flags will be hidden when the page loads.
  • Display Timer: A timer will display at the top of the screen that begins when you begin typing text or click on a flag or country.
  • Always Show Instructions: The instructions window will always appear on page load, even if you have played before.
  • Input

  • Switch Input Field On Correct Guess: When you correctly enter a country, the cursor will move to the capital input field and vice versa. For speed-entering countries and their corresponding capitals.
  • Separate Territories / Associated States From Countries: Add territories, associated states, etc to the quiz. If this is not selected, these places will be automatically filled in when guessing their partner state.
  • Official Names Only: The quiz will only accept official names for countries. This is not recommended, as most official names are long and annoying (e.g. "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland").
  • Require Clicking on Country Guesses: You must click on a country after entering in its name in order for the answer to be accepted. If this is not selected, simply typing in the name will automatically count the answer and empty the input field.
  • Require Clicking on Capital Guesses: You must click on a country after entering in its capital in order for the answer to be accepted. If this is not selected, simply typing in the name will automatically count the answer and empty the input field.
  • Require Clicking on Flag Guesses: You must click on a country after clicking on its flag in order for the answer to be accepted. If this is not selected, typing the country name into the flag section's input field will automatically count the answer and empty the input field.
  • Noise On Correct Answer: When correctly entering a country/capital/flag a noise will play alerting you the answer has been accepted. Useful for speed-players who stare at their keyboard.

Have fun!
